Uh, yeah. Yeah. I'll be there. Of course. Count on me.

[It was actually a bit of a scary thing, finding out time had, in a way, just stopped for him, that the world around him had just kept going. Of course, this would be the second time that's happened, the first being that thousand year pause that brought him here in the first place. But it was worrisome whether he was alone again. Coming here the first time, he'd lost everything, his family, his friends, Berk. It was miraculous he'd done as well as he did, that he'd met some people who had gotten him by. He still has Toothless, but losing even more, all over again, he wouldn't stand it.

He's already dressed, a thin plain red t-shirt tossed on with all the warm weather. Jeans were a custom now too that he's grown used to (granted, he had to cut a whole new set of them to accommodate his leg, why'd they have to toss his old clothes out). It's all a matter of tossing Toothless' saddle on, which he can expertly do with ease in moments, so there's still plenty of time to kill when he hits the skies.

He floats above Heropa before the full span of an hour hits, getting accustomed to the sky again (it doesn't feel like he's been gone long, but it's almost like the wind's changed over time too) before he finds the aforementioned park, large dragon paws sliding through dirt as Hiccup hops off from the side before making a full stop, glancing around to spot familiar pink hair.]

[The porters are avoided for now, since his last idea got him stuck in one anyway. Natural flight is always best and with Toothless' speed, traveling comes easy as they spin and soar through the clouds.

Once landed, unhooking his leg from the saddle, he hears Verity's call of his name as his foot hits the ground, a smile brushing up from the excitement to see her. It's the first real familiar face he gets to see in person since he's come back, almost like a reassurance that he really is back.]

Veri — [He makes to go to her, but someone else already has the same idea, Toothless knocking Hiccup backwards a bit to stumble on a bad leg, crash landing his rear on the ground as the dragon practically pounces his way over to their old friend. Arching his large back in a playful manner, Toothless' signature gummy smile returns, snout presses up to Verity's cheek for a nuzzle.] Whoa, whoa, alright, bud. Personal space, personal space!

[He's more than relieved to see her, happy she's still alright, but there's a weight of surprise that follows when she's suddenly pressed tight within his arms, holding him as if to keep him from disappearing again. While it shouldn't be, the act is almost foreign to him. Whenever he's left the village for days, comes back after never leaving a word of the stunt, he'll get a few punches to the arm from Astrid, about a dozen bruises to show it, or a hefty scolding from Stoick, reminding him for the hundredth and sixteenth time to stop abandoning his duties to the village.

But he doesn't get welcomings like this, nothing that's ever made him feel guilty for leaving despite this scenario hardly being his fault, nothing that's ever really made him feel missed while he was gone. Vikings don't cry if they can help it that even the hints of a sob tear into his chest.

His arms slip around her waist, tucking around a hoodie that finally starts to feel familiar to him. He smiles subtly within her hair when he recognizes it, pressing his nose there as he holds her in the embrace, no plans on letting go until she's ready for it (or until he needs to catch a breath from the tight hold, whichever comes first).]

Kind of feels like I did. Wouldn't be the first time. [He's got an ongoing tally of almost-death scenarios at this point.] But no, I'm — I'm here. Still in one piece. Mostly, anyway. At least I still got one foot.

[He can joke about sprawling into the world a thousand years ahead of it's time, but the reality of it is that he would be dead. He can escape death as many times as he's able, somehow relying on luck whenever it seemed to cling to him, but living for a thousand years would never be in the cards. If time moved the way it was meant to, he wouldn't ever reach this place.]

I'm sorry. I — I wouldn't have just left like that if I could help it. [It's the honest truth. Not without ever giving her a proper goodbye at least. Some people here have become just too important to just walk out on without a word.] I wasn't even at Berk. One second I was here and the next I was still here, but, uh, just apparently took a snooze for a few months or something.

[Whatever that was. Much too complicated. It doesn't even matter right now.] But I am here. This is real, okay? There's no pretending needed, Verity.
